About EUR 252m of published value across the 20 of the 34 records tracked here that carry a figure; fourteen records carry no value because the buyer publishes none, and one of those fourteen is the one procedure open on 14 September 2026 that clears the Atlas €5 million floor on its published scope. The total is the sum of one figure per record — the contract value the award notice publishes, or the procedure estimate where the procedure closed without an award — and comes to EUR 251,766,802.92, counting at EUR 5,430,779.82 the one record whose award notice prints that figure in three fields and a ten-times-larger transcription of the same digits in a fourth. The largest single figure is the EUR 53,521,280 interlocking contract for Bettembourg and Dudelange, then EUR 44,234,281.44 for the Howald platform and marshalling-yard package, EUR 18,693,817.42 for the Rodange depot design and EUR 16,832,878.01 for the Hollerich station design. Against that, the State published programme values the contracts sit inside are far larger: EUR 292,013,570 excluding VAT for the new Luxembourg–Bettembourg line, EUR 98 million from the Fonds du Rail for Ettelbruck, and statutory ceilings of EUR 114,900,000 and EUR 99,100,000 for the two tram extensions

Luxembourg's railway lines and…271 km · 262 km electrifiedLuxembourg's railway lines and electrified lines in 2024 (Eurostat): 271 km in total, 262 km electrified and 9 km not, of which 237 km carry passengers and freight and 34 km freight only. THE NETWORK MANAGER AND THE COMPANY PUBLISH DIFFERENT MEASURES AND NEITHER RECONCILES THEM, SO ALL THREE ARE CARRIED WITH THEIR OWN LABELS. The Network Statement 2027, published by the Administration des chemins de fer on 19 September 2025, gives track typologies rather than a route total: 100.319 km of single track, 160.327 km of double track and no multiple track, which is 260.646 km of route. CFL's own key-figures page gives '628 Km de voies ferrées principales', a track figure and not a route figure, together with 68 stations and stops, 1,175 switches and 26 tunnels. The one place the sources corroborate each other exactly is the unelectrified mileage: Eurostat's 9 km of non-electrified line in 2024 is line 2b Ettelbruck–Bissen, which the network statement gives as 8.7 km of single track with 'Traction Energy: System none'

  • ● transports.public.lu — Eurocap-Rail · The ministry's own page, last modified 5 August 2024. Eurocap-Rail aims at the rail interconnection of the three European seat cities, Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg; the Luxembourg interest lies chiefly in improving the line towards Brussels. The Commission placed the project on the priority TEN-T list on 1 October 2003, confirmed by the Transport Council on 5 December 2003. On the Brussels-Luxembourg section the line has been re-electrified at 25 kV 50 Hz AC in Luxembourg and the new signalling centre at Kleinbettingen station has entered service, that project having been subsidised by the Commission; in Belgium the line has been modernised and re-electrified between the Belgian-Luxembourg border and Namur, with seven curves improved, works complete between the border and Libramont and between Ciney and Namur and in progress between Libramont and Grupont and between Haversin and Ciney. CFL and SNCB are studying the operation of the line after the works (published 2024-08-05 · checked 2026-09-14)

The gap is 2.7 km of a 260 km network on a cross-border stub, not a qualification of the roll-out; Mainline reproduces both statements rather than choosing between them. The ETCS project ran from 2003 to 2017 and CFL states it was co-financed by the European Union without naming a programme or a figure. GSM-R was commissioned on 9 December 2018. Public transport in Luxembourg…free since 1 March 2020Public transport in Luxembourg has been free of charge nationwide since 1 March 2020 on every mode — bus, train and tram — for residents, cross-border workers and tourists alike; only first class on trains is still paid for. There is therefore no farebox in the Luxembourg market and no revenue-risk concession to bid for: the buyers in this file are funded by the State and their contracts are for building, maintaining and equipping the network rather than for running services at risk

CFL's own 2025 figures for inve…€327.1m through the Fonds du Rail in 2025CFL's own 2025 figures for investment: EUR 158.9 million of its own investment, notably for the acquisition of new trains, and EUR 327.1 million invested in the rail infrastructure on behalf of the Fonds du Rail. CFL's key-figures page states the State's investment in the infrastructure differently, as 'EUR 382,6 mio. (TVAC)'. The ratio between the two is 1.170, and the key-figures page labels its own figure TVAC — toutes taxes comprises, value-added tax included — while the annual report's EUR 327.1 million is not so labelled, so the two are very probably the same quantity stated with and without VAT. NEITHER PAGE SAYS SO EXPRESSLY and neither reconciles itself to the other, so both are carried with the labels their own sources give them and Mainline does not restate one as the other. The group turned over EUR 1.311 billion in 2025 against EUR 1.215 billion in 2024, with a record net result of EUR 35.3 million. At the end of 2025 the State and CFL signed a new infrastructure management contract for 2026 to 2040

Cities

CityNetwork statusNetworks
Luxembourg Cityoperational — the hub of the star-shaped national network and the only city in the country with an urban rail mode. Luxembourg station is the origin, through point or terminus of every national and cross-border line; its platforms V and VI, 311 m and 253 m long, entered service in 2021 and the works at the south head finished in 2025. Tram line 1 has run complete between Findel airport and Cloche d'Or since 2 March 2025, and the K2A extension along boulevard Konrad Adenauer at the Kirchberg is under construction for the start of the 2027 school year. The new peripheral stations at Howald and Hollerich, the new Luxembourg–Bettembourg line and the second tram depot at Cloche d'Or are all being built here. Seat of CFL, Luxtram, the Ministry of Mobility and Public Works and the ILRLuxembourg railway station and its west and south heads (CFL); Howald peripheral station and multimodal hub (CFL); Hollerich new peripheral station and mobility hub (CFL); Tram line 1, Findel–Cloche d'Or (Luxtram); Kirchberg 'neien Tramsschapp' depot and the Cloche d'Or depot under construction (Luxtram)
Bettembourgoperational — the freight and southern junction of the network and the busiest single worksite on it: the new Luxembourg–Bettembourg line reaches the north head here for autumn 2027, the interlockings of Bettembourg and Dudelange are being renewed with central ETCS Level 1 Full Supervision, a two-part flyover (structures OA1 and OA3) is being built south of the station, the north pedestrian subway has been rebuilt, and a new last-generation signalling centre is to be installed from 2029. The Dudelange/Bettembourg marshalling yard is being modernised and the Bettembourg-Dudelange intermodal terminal adjoins itBettembourg station and its north head (CFL); Dudelange/Bettembourg marshalling yard (CFL); Bettembourg flyover structures OA1 and OA3 (CFL)
Dudelangeoperational — the Eurohub Sud logistics park and the Bettembourg-Dudelange intermodal terminal, the seat of CFL cargo and CFL multimodal and the point of contact the national network statement publishes for the container terminal and the shunting yard; published annual terminal capacity 600,000 intermodal transport units. Dudelange station is one of the two stations being re-equipped under the EUR 53.5 million interlocking contractBettembourg-Dudelange intermodal terminal, Eurohub Sud (CFL terminals / CFL multimodal); Dudelange station interlocking renewal (CFL)
Esch-sur-Alzetteoperational — the second city and the head of the southern agglomeration, reached by line 6a from Bettembourg and line 6f from Pétange. CFL rebuilt the station's reception areas and platforms in 2025 and renewed the Bettembourg–Scheuerbusch tracks in spring 2026. Line 6e from Esch to Audun-le-Tiche in France is the one line on the national network the network statement gives as ETCS L0. The ministry is analysing a fast interurban tram between Esch-sur-Alzette and Luxembourg City along the A4 corridor for 2035, and the seat of the Administration des chemins de fer is hereEsch-sur-Alzette station (CFL); Line 6a Bettembourg–Esch-sur-Alzette; Line 6e Esch/Alzette–Audun-le-Tiche (cross-border, ETCS L0)
Ettelbruckoperational — the northern junction where line 1 to Troisvierges meets line 1a to Diekirch and line 2b to Bissen, and the anchor of the Nordstad development. The station is being rebuilt as a multimodal interchange in four modules to 2030 — compliance works, superstructure renewal, a 430-space park-and-ride and a new passenger building — at a published cost of EUR 98 million excluding VAT from the Fonds du Rail and EUR 38 million from the Fonds des Routes, with the N7 national road put underground beneath the new station buildingEttelbruck station and multimodal interchange (CFL / Administration des ponts et chaussées); Line 1a Ettelbruck–Diekirch; Line 2b Ettelbruck–Bissen, the one non-electrified line on the network
Rodangeoperational — the south-western corner of the network, where lines 6g, 6h and 6j cross into Belgium at Aubange and Athus and into France at Mont-Saint-Martin. CFL is building the CRM Sud maintenance and stabling centre here, reconfiguring the west head of the station and putting up a new Poste Directeur Sud building, all designed under the EUR 18.69 million package awarded in 2024; the works packages for the new signalling centre at neighbouring Pétange were advertised in 2026Rodange station and its west head (CFL); CRM Sud maintenance and stabling centre (CFL); Poste Directeur Sud-Ouest at Pétange (CFL)
Troisviergesoperational — the northern terminus of line 1 and the last station before the Belgian border, where the 2x25 kV 50 Hz supply gives way to 25 kV to the Infrabel frontier. The station is being brought into compliance under four separate design missions awarded in 2026, two of them above the Atlas floor, covering platforms, rail formation, a bus station, a passenger building, canopies and accesses and a new infrastructure-maintenance site; CFL opened a 388-space park-and-ride here in 2025Troisvierges station (CFL); Line 1 Luxembourg–Troisvierges–border
