About this buyer
Read more
CFL's own words are that it is the backbone of national and cross-border public transport, with three principal missions: passenger transport, railway infrastructure management and freight transport. Its published 2025 figures are 31.4 million rail passengers, 547 million passenger-kilometres, 1,000 trains a day Monday to Friday, 68 stations and stops, 628 km of main running track, 1,175 switches, 26 tunnels, 5,345 group staff and a group turnover of EUR 1.311 billion with a net result of EUR 35.3 million. Passenger service on the national network has been free of charge since 1 March 2020 for everyone but first-class travellers, on a measure that covers residents, cross-border workers and tourists alike. CFL's rolling-stock programme is the 34 Alstom Coradia units ordered on 18 December 2018 — series 2400 and 2450 — of which 22 were in service in June 2026, CFL put 24 electric trains out to tender in December 2024, for delivery between the end of 2030 and the end of 2032, and separately states that it finalised in 2025 the specification for the next series of new trains, series 2500; CFL does not publish that the two are the same procurement, and this file does not assert it.
