Eesti Raudtee manages, maintains and develops the main Estonian public railway and runs traffic control on it. Its own company page states that it develops and maintains 1,186 km of railway, 61 stations and 135 passenger platforms, and that a little over 700 specialists worked for it on 1 January 2026, while its 2025 annual report opens with 1,175 km of railway of which 286 km of electrified track, 61 stations, 136 passenger platforms and 704 employees; its Network Statement puts the figures differently again and for a different quantity, and all three are carried here. The Network Statement 2025/2026, in force on the run date for the timetable period 14 December 2025 to 12 December 2026, gives the total length of railway lines as 696 km — 593 km single track and 103 km double track, the double-track sections being Tallinn–Tapa and Keila–Tallinn — with 286 km of electrified track; the Network Statement 2026/2027 repeats the 696 km and raises the electrified figure to 'kuni 414 km', up to 414 km. The gauges in use are 1520 and 1524 mm, main-line rail types 60E1, UIC60 and R65, usable station-track length 850 m and 1,500 m at the Narva and Koidula border stations. Wagon axle load may not exceed 25 tonnes and locomotive axle load 32 tonnes. Maximum permitted speed is up to 140 km/h for passenger trains and up to 80 km/h for freight on the 2025/2026 statement, which the 2026/2027 statement restates as planned up to 160 km/h and up to 80 km/h. The contact-line supply voltage is 3 kV DC from four traction substations at Järve, Keila, Raasiku and Riisipere, and the 2026/2027 statement records that a new 25 kV AC contact-line system is planned for introduction in 2026 on the Aegviidu–Tapa and Tapa–Tartu sections and at Tapa station, fed from two substations at Tapa and Jõgeva. Train protection is the ALSN automatic cab-signalling system: the statement records that the infrastructure is equipped with 50 Hz ALSN lineside equipment, that every locomotive and multiple unit running on it must carry an on-board system able to receive ALSN codes, and that in 2023–2027 the manager is changing over to 25 Hz ALSN coding with both frequencies in use during the transition. Neither the 2025/2026 nor the 2026/2027 statement contains the string ETCS or ERTMS anywhere in its 79 and 77 pages.
