The vehicles were ordered under a contract entered into in December 2016 and have been entering service on the existing METRO Blue Line; Metro Transit's fact book through December 2025 records 91 Siemens light rail vehicles alongside 27 Bombardier vehicles in the fleet. Commissioning of the vehicles is ongoing, which is the Council's stated reason for Amendment No. 7. The Council's own project page states that 27 new light rail vehicles were ordered and have begun entering service, built by Siemens in California.
