Construction is advanced and the line is not yet open. MTA's own project page says the Purple Line is slated to open in late 2027; the Board of Public Works approved the modification extending the revenue service availability deadline from Spring 2027 to Winter 2027 in March 2024. MTA's Consolidated Transportation Program status for the draft FY2027-FY2032 programme records that major construction is nearing completion, that resolution and payment for utility conflicts continues, and that extensive testing including operator training and preparations for revenue service are under way.
