The FRA announced the grant on 14 August 2026 and no overhaul contract is published. Work covers wheel sets, air compressors, traction motors, turbochargers, high-pressure fuel pumps and diesel engines. WisDOT applied in 2025 with Amtrak and the Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, Oregon and Washington departments. The figure is the whole grant and is not apportioned to Wisconsin.
