Complete: revenue service began in June 2025 and the extension turned Valley Metro Rail into a 35-mile two-line system, the A line running east–west and the B line north–south. FLAG: two published dates. Valley Metro's project page and its own May 2025 project FAQ both give June 2025, and the City of Phoenix Transportation 2050 Annual Progress Report FY2025 says so in its narrative; the high-capacity transit progress table on page 16 of that same report says 'Service began June 2025'. The June date is carried and the discrepancy is recorded. The work is not financially closed: Valley Metro's 2026 Transit Life Cycle Program update lists South Central among the remaining Proposition 400 projects, records that it is in revenue service but still has outstanding costs, programmes a negative amount of Proposition 400 Public Transportation Fund in FY2027 (a reimbursement), and states that there is uncertainty relating to real estate litigation for the Northwest Phase II and South Central extensions. Valley Metro's own purchase order registers continued to pay Kiewit Infrastructure West Company for construction-manager-at-risk services on the project in May and July 2026.
