Dallas-Houston high-speed rail.…no current status publishedDallas-Houston high-speed rail. The most recent statement on Amtrak's media centre naming a Dallas-Houston corridor is the release of 8 December 2023, 'Amtrak and Partners Receive Federal Grants to Improve and Expand Passenger Rail Across America', which lists under 'Amtrak-Led Grants': 'Texas High-Speed Rail Corridor — This proposed corridor would connect Dallas and Houston, Texas, with a new, dedicated and grade separated high-speed passenger rail service… with station stops in Dallas, Brazos Valley and Houston.' The joint Texas Central and Amtrak release of 9 August 2023 precedes it. The Federal Railroad Administration's Corridor Identification and Development Program page names no corridor itself, but links to its Corridor ID Program Monthly Obligation Status Report, last updated 31 March 2026, which names three Texas corridors: Fort Worth-to-Houston High Speed Rail Corridor, sponsor North Central Texas COG, Step 1 obligated 16 May 2024, $500,000; Dallas-Fort Worth – Houston Intercity Passenger Rail Corridor, sponsor Texas DOT, 25 July 2024, $500,000; and Houston to San Antonio Corridor, sponsor Texas DOT, 25 July 2024, $500,000. None of the three carries a Step 2 or Step 3 obligation, and the report lists no Texas corridor sponsored by Amtrak: its three Amtrak-sponsored entries are Amtrak to Long Island, Daily Cardinal Service and Daily Sunset Limited Service, the last of which is an existing long-distance route that runs through Texas rather than a Texas corridor. This file therefore asserts nothing about the Texas Central project's ownership, funding or current standing.

Austin Light Rail funding litig…writ of mandamus conditionally granted, 22 May 2026Austin Light Rail funding litigation, from the courts' own records. Ken Paxton, Attorney General of Texas v. The City of Austin and Austin Transit Partnership Local Government Corporation began in the 53rd District Court of Travis County as cause D-1-GN-24-001064. The Fifteenth Court of Appeals issued a memorandum opinion and judgment on 8 October 2024 with the disposition DISMISSED in case 15-24-00078-CV, reported at 722 S.W.3d 50; rehearing was overruled on 5 November 2024. The Supreme Court of Texas granted the petition for review on 21 November 2025, heard argument on 10 February 2026, and delivered its opinion in No. 24-1078 on 22 May 2026: 'We construe the Attorney General's petition for review as a petition for writ of mandamus and conditionally grant relief directing the district court to rule on the plea to the jurisdiction. The writ will issue only if the court does not do so. The judgment of the court of appeals is undisturbed.' The Court states in terms, 'We express no view on the State's jurisdictional arguments.' Chief Justice Blacklock delivered the opinion; Justice Sullivan did not participate. The cost bill issued on 6 July 2026 and the Fifteenth Court's mandate on 13 July 2026. Nothing beyond the courts' own dated dispositions is carried, and no party's characterisation of any other party is reproduced.
