Final design is under way and VRE estimates construction will begin in January 2027. The VRE Operations Board in July 2026 recommended a resolution of support and authorised an application for Vanpool Alliance Section 5307 funding towards the construction phase, which VRE says will fill a funding shortfall. No construction contract has been let.
