Planned and deferred, and the two documents that describe it carry different kinds of figure. The City of Phoenix Transportation 2050 Annual Progress Report FY2025 describes the extension as 10.2 miles with eight or more stations and a park-and-ride, running in the median of Interstate 10 before crossing to the freeway's north side to end at the Desert Sky Transit Center, currently in the early stages of preliminary engineering, examining options for a revised link to the Capitol Extension, with the locally preferred alternative still to be finalised; its Light Rail Transit Funds Distribution graphic carries a published figure against the line. Valley Metro's 2026 Proposition 400 Transit Life Cycle Program update carries no corridor cost for I-10 West in either its 2025 or its 2026 column — both are printed as a dash — and records the project as deferred alongside the Capitol Extension, with the unused Proposition 400 Public Transportation Fund that had been slated for I-10 West planning reallocated to West Phoenix. The figure carried here is the city's distribution of funds across its light rail programme over the life of Transportation 2050; it is not a budget line, not a Proposition 400 programme cost and not an award.
