Both projects are in design; Sound Transit's System Expansion Monthly Status Report of September 2026 records the design phase for the Lakewood and South Tacoma access improvement station area projects progressing at 60 per cent design. A joint construction management consultant services solicitation for the pre-construction and construction activities of both projects is carried in the Quarterly Procurement Look Ahead for the third quarter of 2026. Sound Transit pre-construction is due to start at the end of 2026 on the Lakewood project, with the City leading design and construction of the balance.
