About this buyer

Provincial ministry responsible for Saskatchewan's roughly 26,000 km highway network and, through its Policy and Programs division, for the wider transportation network across road, rail, air and marine. It has two rail-specific roles. First, funding: the Short Line Railway Improvement Program (SRIP), a C$1 million-a-year, 50-50 matched grant to the provincially regulated short line railways — fourteen of them, operating 2,123 km of track — confirmed at C$1,000,000 for both 2025-26 and 2026-27. Second, safety regulation: the Ministry reviews those short lines' safety management plans and conducts regular safety inspections; CN and CPKC, on more than 6,000 km of track in the province, are federally regulated instead. General procurement (goods over C$10,000, services over C$75,000, construction over C$100,000) runs through SaskBuilds and Procurement and is advertised on SaskTenders.
